The Whisker Bark Bailey Chair is designed for dogs with megaesophagus. It holds your dog seated upright through the meal and the rest period afterward, so food moves down by gravity instead of you propping your dog up by hand three or four times a day.

Built from birch plywood with cam lock hardware that stays tight through daily use, a reinforced base and bowl tray, and an extended base plate so the chair stays planted when your dog leans in. The finish is water resistant and scratch resistant, so spills wipe off instead of soaking in.

The front door opens and latches, so your dog walks in instead of being lifted. The bowl sits in a cut-out opening that holds it in place. Handles on both sides for carrying.

Fit matters more than anything else here. A chair that is too large lets your dog slump sideways, which defeats the purpose. Use our sizing tool before you order, and message us if you are between sizes.

Ships flat with all hardware. Assembles in about 20 minutes. Backed by a 1 year warranty.

Not a medical device. The Whisker Bark Bailey Chair is a feeding position aid. It holds your dog in an upright seated position during and after meals. It is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent megaesophagus or any other disease, injury, or medical condition. The chair supports a feeding position your veterinarian may recommend. It does not treat the underlying condition.

Not a substitute for veterinary care. Megaesophagus and related swallowing conditions require ongoing veterinary management, including diet, food consistency, and monitoring for aspiration pneumonia. Consult your veterinarian before using this chair and for any change in your dog's condition. This chair does not replace examination, diagnosis, or treatment by a licensed veterinarian.

Supervision required. Never leave your dog unattended in the chair, during the meal or the rest period afterward. Do not use the chair for confinement, training, transport, or any purpose other than supervised upright feeding. Remove your dog immediately if they struggle, panic, cough, gag, or show any sign of distress.

Correct sizing is the customer's responsibility. Fit determines whether the chair works. A chair that is too large allows your dog to slump sideways or slide down, which defeats the purpose and may create a safety risk. Use our sizing tool and measuring guide before ordering, and contact us if you are unsure or between sizes. Because each chair is sized to a specific dog, all sales are final and we do not accept returns or exchanges based on fit.

Assembly and inspection. Assemble the chair fully and exactly as instructed before use, with all hardware installed and tightened. Check the chair before each use for loose hardware, cracks, splinters, or damage, and stop using it if any are found. Place the chair on a flat, stable, non-slip surface. Do not modify the chair, add unapproved parts, or use it beyond its stated weight limit.

Not suitable for: dogs outside our published size range, including giant breeds such as Great Danes and Newfoundlands; dogs who cannot sit upright on their own or hold their head up unassisted; dogs recovering from spinal, chest, or abdominal surgery unless cleared by a veterinarian; dogs who panic, thrash, or attempt to escape when confined; and unsupervised use of any kind.

No guaranteed results. Individual results vary. We make no representations or warranties regarding any specific outcome, including regurgitation frequency, weight gain, or prevention of aspiration pneumonia.

We want you and your dog to have the right fit. If something isn't right, reach out within 30 days of delivery and we'll help you sort it out. Because the Bailey Chair assembles with hardware that drills into the panels, we can only accept returns and exchanges on chairs that haven't been assembled yet.

So before you pick up a screwdriver, take two minutes to check the fit using the panels themselves. Stand the front door panel next to your sitting dog: the top edge should sit at or below their shoulders. Lay the side panel on the floor beside them: your dog's sitting depth should fit within it with room to spare. If anything looks off, stop and email contact@whiskerbark.com before assembling and we'll help you exchange it.

How it works

Open the door, let your dog in, and let gravity carry the meal down.

  1. 01

    Your Dog Walks In

The front panel opens and latches shut behind them. No lifting a full grown dog over a wall three or four times a day.

  2. 02

    Upright Through The Meal

The snug fit holds your dog seated and supported, and the bowl sits in a cut-out that keeps it from sliding or tipping mid-meal.

  3. 03

    Upright Afterward Too

Your dog stays in position for the rest period your vet recommends, with handles on both sides so the chair moves wherever you need it.

Part of the Daily Routine

Made for the everyday feeding

Feeding a dog with megaesophagus happens several times a day. Here's where the chair does the work.

01

Breakfast and Dinner

The same spot, the same routine, twice a day. Your dog learns to walk in on their own.

02

Smaller Meals Through the Day

Many dogs do better on three or four small meals. The chair makes each one quick to set up.

03

The Rest Period After

Your dog stays upright for as long as your vet recommends, without you holding them there.

04

Water and Medication

Anything that needs to go down upright works the same way, with the bowl held steady in the tray.

05

Hands Free While They Eat

You are next to your dog rather than under them, so you can watch how the meal is going.

06

When Someone Else Feeds Them

A sitter or family member can follow the same routine without learning how to hold a dog upright.

Simple From the First Meal

How to use it

Three easy steps, one calm routine, repeated at every meal.

Open the Door & Let Them In

Set the bowl into the cut-out in the tray so it stays put, then feed as usual. Stay with your dog for the whole meal.

Keep your dog upright for as long as your vet recommends. Then let them out and wipe the tray and panels clean.

Always supervise your dog. Never leave them unattended in the chair.

FAQs

📏 Sizing & Fit

Use our sizing tool. You take three measurements with your dog sitting upright: sitting depth from the rump to the front toes, width at the widest point, and sitting height from the floor to the shoulders. Enter them and we'll tell you which size fits. If you're unsure or between sizes, email us before ordering and we'll size it with you.

Go with the larger one. A chair that sits slightly tall can be solved with the Booster Platform, but a chair your dog can't physically fit into can't be fixed. Our sizing tool handles this automatically.

That's common with short-legged breeds like Dachshunds and Corgis, and with puppies still growing. Your dog fits the chair fine, they just need a lift. The Booster Platform raises them to the right height, and our sizing tool will tell you if you need it.

🐕 Using the Chair

Through the meal plus a rest period afterward. The length of that rest period comes from your veterinarian, since it depends on your dog's condition. Never leave your dog unattended in the chair at any point.

Any bowl with a rim wider than the tray opening and a body that drops through it. The tray cutout is 16.5 cm across on all three sizes. A bowl with a flat bottom works better than a rounded one, since thickened food pools in a rounded base.

Most dogs adjust within a few days, especially once they associate the chair with food. Start with short sessions and keep the chair in the same spot. Because the front door opens, your dog walks in rather than being lifted, which makes the adjustment easier than with fixed-wall chairs.

📦 Ordering & Delivery

It ships flat with all hardware and instructions, and assembles in about 20 minutes with no special tools.

Only if it hasn't been assembled. The hardware drills into the panels, so once that's done we can't accept a return or exchange. Before you assemble, do a quick fit check with the panels themselves: the front door panel should sit at or below your dog's shoulders, and your dog's sitting depth should fit within the side panel. If anything looks off, email us first.
